A Legacy of Quilting

Today I attended The 2017 Atlanta Annual Quilt Festival. The festival runs from August 5th through August 31. The Quilt Festival is sponsored by The Clara Ford Foundation which is a nonprofit corporation that was established by O.V. Brantley to honor her grandmother, Clara Ford. The Foundation was established in 2005 to promote, preserve and celebrate the art of African American quilting and quilting in general.

It was a great pleasure to meet so many quilters that I've met on Facebook and at other quilting events that I've attended. This upcoming weekend, I will be attending the Master Quilting Class on Saturday, August 12 with Renee Fleuranges-Valdes - Master Quilter from Mt. Vernon NY and we will be learning how to use improvisational applique techniques to make an African Mask. Then on August 19th we will be doing Collage and Applique Quilting with Latifa Shakir. I am so looking forward to both of these classes.

At the Festival today, we got to see quilts that were so outstanding.

It was also a pleasure to meet many of my Facebook friends and quilters that I see at various functions and to support them in their works. We have Joyce Daniels of MzJoyce's Bags & Things, my Facebook quilting friend, Chiquita Pearson, Jan Hollis Sullivan, Quilting Artist, Michelle Curney Willis of Curney Crafts and Aisha Lumumba, Author of "The Women Who Fly" and " Scrap Easy...Building a Collage Quilt."

And I bought a beautiful doll from Jan Hollis Sullivan that I will put in my craft room that says Dream. I love having inspirational items surrounding me when I'm in my craft room. It just gives me inspiration to succeed at anything I can dream of.
