CRAFT/ FABRIC ARTIST & CREATIVITY COACH
DIANE RONEY
My name is Diane Roney and I’m a Craft Artist. I am also a wife, mother and I work full time. But my passion is Creativity.
My journey started when I was introduced to scrapbooking 20 years ago, little did I know the journey
this would take me. I remember growing up taking big blank books and cutting pictures and photos
and creating albums but it didn’t really resonant with me until this journey begin.
So with scrapbooking came card design and then taking photographs, asking myself where did this passion for photography come from. After doing some soul searching and looking within the “aha” moment clicked in and I said my dad. I remember my dad all my life taking photos of us kids, lining us up on Christmas day to shoot video, all my birthdays and practically my entire life is etched in photographs and videos. So, I got that from my dad. I remember going downstairs to our basement and there was this “red” light on and dad would say don’t go in there the film is processing. So my love of photography was born.

Continuing on this artistic journey I started making cards and taking classes and learning new techniques which included stamping.
I became a consultant for several well-known stamping companies and Snaps Scraps and Stamps was created. Back when I started the title encompassed Snaps for taking photographs, Scraps for scrapbooking and Stamps for Stamping. Now the name is taking on new meaning…Snaps is still for photographs, Scraps in now for Fabric and Stamps is still for stamping for all mediums.
The craft bug continues when I somehow got into embroidery. Now here’s the funny part I’ve never sewn a stitch in my life. If anyone had ever told me that I would be doing this I would have looked at them like they were crazy. How do I do embroidery?
I can’t even tell you who got me started. Daring as I am I went and bought my first machine…a Brother 780D. Did I know what to do with it…nope but I did it anyone. I took classes, I attended YouTube University and watched everyone I could. Now, I’m into this big time. I went to an expo with my enabler friends and I was drawn to the Babylock distributor. I said, well I’ll just look and, of course, the enablers came with me. Had me taking photos [take a look] and the next thing I knew I had purchased a Babylock Destiny. Mind you still can’t sew, I always wanted to when I was young but just never had anyone to teach me. Well here I am with this fantastic machine and asking myself, what are you going to do with this? You can’t sew, you’re measurement challenged and you bought this machine. Well back to classes and YouTube University. Now I’m getting pretty good. Thank God for technology. Now here comes the kicker…I’m now a quilt artist. What is that? It’s a fancy title for quilter. Me, Diane, a quilter. I’m a novice sewer and embroider and now I’m quilting. I amaze myself. I am now so into quilting it isn’t funny. I made my first quilt. I didn’t know a thing about blocks, squares, quarter-inch seams, binding…what!!!
So, the journey continues. But I’m loving it. I am a creative being. My thoughts are creative.
My every movement throughout the day activates creativity. I am a canvas for God’s magnificence.
